Scholarship Options for BCIT Students
With tuition costs rising yearly, finding financial support for your education is becoming increasingly important. Whether you’re starting your first semester or returning for another year of studies, BCIT offers a range of scholarships, bursaries, and awards that could lighten your financial load.
Funding Your Future
BCIT recognizes the value of post-secondary education and is committed to helping motivated students fund their future. From entrance awards for new students to in-course bursaries for continuing studies, the institution provides over $2 million in funding each year through more than 200 different awards.
Foundation Scholarships
One of the largest funding sources comes from BCIT’s Foundation, which manages donor-supported scholarships targeted toward academic excellence and financial need. Most of these Foundation Scholarships are entrance awards valued between $500 to $2,000, requiring a minimum grade average of 80% from your previous year of study.
In-Course Awards
For continuing students, BCIT provides in-course bursaries awarded based on your program, year of study, and proven financial need. Values range from $500 to $2,000. The application deadline is in early November, giving preference to students who have completed at least one semester. Supporting documents like tax returns are required.
Departmental Awards
Beyond institution-wide funding, individual BCIT Schools and Departments offer awards, some tailored towards specific programs or based on involvement in student initiatives. Connect with your program advisor for award details specific to your study area.
With over 10,000 students at BCIT, competition for scholarships is understandably high. However, demonstrating your potential through grades, demonstrated financial need, or engagement can help boost your chances of landing funding support to achieve your academic and career goals.
